150th Anniversary 2021
The club will celebrate its 150th Anniversary in 2021.
A cricket festival week is being planned from Sunday May 30th to Sunday June 6th.
We have confirmed fixtures versus Marylebone Cricket Club XI (The MCC) on Sunday 6th June and versus the Somerset CC over 50’s on Sunday 30th May.

We have now entered a new senior team in the Somerset Saturday League (MSL).
We are now looking for new players to join to help build a squad of players to sustain an 18-game season running from May to August. Please contact us via our email below or if you know some of our local team members please let them know you are interested (anyone from age 14 and above can play).

Youth Cricket will start again in April, we will be looking for players for our U10s and U12s teams.
We will also run our U8s section with beginner’s cricket.

We are looking to set up a Girls section and team, both the English and Somerset Cricket Boards are getting behind this nationally, so plenty of training and help for players any volunteers (please let us know if are keen to help) to help set this up.

Vice-Presidents

The continuation and future success of the Queen Camel Cricket Club depends upon the contributions of many individuals and also the goodwill and active support of both the local community and others who love cricket and village cricket in particular. Individuals can support the Club by becoming Vice Presidents. Maintaining, and hopefully increasing, the number of the Club’s Vice Presidents year on year is an important indicator of the continuing goodwill and support of the local and cricketing communities. Becoming a Vice President in itself makes a valuable contribution to the Club. Although a modest annual financial contribution is important, other forms of contribution such as attending and supporting the Club during matches, providing professional and other advice, undertaking particular tasks necessary to the running of the Club and simply supporting the Club within the local and cricketing communities are equally important. The obligations placed upon Vice Presidents are minimal but the opportunities for some Vice Presidents to become more involved are unlimited.
If you would like to make a donation and become a Vice President, please contact via our email below.

We held our Club Open & Family Day on Sunday 1st September in glorious weather. We had a fantastic turnout who enjoyed the cricket, cake sale and BBQ food provided by “Great Tastes”.

We had players from our U14s team playing in the Chairman’s XI v President’s XI game with James, George and Byron taking the wickets of some key senior team players!
After the game we had some fun games with our U8 & U10 players who also collected achievement certificates for their efforts in the 2019 season.

All our games have now finished for the 2019 season, we are now looking to renovate the square ready for 2020.

FRIDAY 24TH JUNE

The Queen Camel Royals U19T20 side start their 5 game run this Friday 24th June v Crewkerne. This is an exciting competition for players aged 14 to 19.

Matthew Counsell from the Somerset Cricket Board will be there taking photos to put on the Somerset website and twitter pages, this is a great opportunity to get our club some publicity.

Youth training will still be on, starting at 1715.

Before the start of the U19T20 at 1815, we have flags and hats for our U10s and U12s to help create a guard of honour to get the U19 game started.

There will be a BBQ (burgers and hot dogs) and drinks available to buy and Lawrence's Cider bar will be in attendance also.

So please stay and watch the game and enjoy a fabulous summer evening watching the future of our club in action.

June 2016

We have just about reached the mid-way point in the season with the club growing in strength and number, with about 40 members playing so far across all age groups.
The senior side are going well with 7 wins and 4 defeats to date. See http://queencamel.play-cricket.com/website/web_pages/183406  &http://midwessexlge.play-cricket.com/website/web_pages/206232

A good way to boost funds is for to someone to refer your cause. It has to be a supporter of your club (I can’t do this as I have the Administrator role for QCCC, but for example if Dumiso who is a signed up supporter for QCCC on Easyfunding can refer the football club to join, Andrew refers the Tennis club and so on, within the village and wider community there are several clubs that each team/club can spread the word and reap the rewards.

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to your annual holiday - you could be raising a free donation for Queen Camel Cricket Club? There are nearly 3,000 retailers including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's, who will donate a percentage of the amount you spend to Queen Camel Cricket Club to say thank you for shopping with them.

2014

21st September 2014

In our last fixture of the 2014 season, Queen Camel CC traveled to Broadwindsor with an outside chance of still being able to win the league.

Things were going well with some tight bowling from Steve Ball 8-4-6-0 and Guy Clothier taking 3 early wickets, Broadwindsor were in some trouble at 44-4. However a 5th stand of 129 took Broadwindsor to the points required to win the league and a total of 173 for 4 from 40 overs.

In reply the Queen Camel CC skipper Paul Worton played steadily for 68 and with Matt Worton 21 and Steve Ball 14 runs were being scored at a good rate, but wickets fell regularly with Queen Camel finishing 144 all out in 33 overs, 29 runs short of the target.

Full Scorecard at: http://queencamel.play-cricket.com/subsite/web_pages/225899

14th September 2014

In the last fixture at the Queen Camel playing field this season the Queen Camel CC President’s XI played the Queen Camel CC Chairman’s XI.

With the President’s XI batting first, Hammad Tahir got the score board racing with a brisk 36 before falling to a stunning one handed reaction catch at first slip by Paul Worton.
Further contributions of 16, 12 and 17 from Lewis Rees, Sonny Dennett and Brad Jones kept the scoreboard ticking.
Dumiso Ncube, Ollie Jones, Si Gerring and Darren Evans all picked up two wicket each but were unable to snare Ed Barnes who blazed 29no to take the President’s XI to 156 for 8 from 30 Overs
In reply the Chairman’s XI skipper Paul Worton and Matt Boon played steadily to get to 78 for 1 from 16 overs, but when the skipper was removed scoring 40, a middle order collapsed followed. With the scoreboard now 85 for 5 the winning score was a tough ask. Matt Boon batted through for 38 no with Dumiso Ncube 17 and Chris Moore 14 no. Sonny Dennett and Hammad Tahir each taking 2 wickets each, the Chairman’s XI reached 134 for 6, 22 runs short of the target.
President’s XI Skipper Steve Ball was awarded the winning shield.

Our last game of the season is this Sunday away at Broadwindsor.

Queen Camel CC played their annual fixture against the Col Watson XI

Sunday 25th August 2013

This year the winning team would win “The Eileen Croom Memorial Cup”.

Sadly Eileen passed away a couple years ago, but to remember her, the club decided to dedicate this trophy in her memory.
Eileen gave the club a lot of support over the years which included her making fabulous cricket teas for us players.
Also she supported her husband Ken and sons Neil and Paul who also played for many years at the club.

So batting first QCCC scored at 5 an over but were in some trouble at 102 for 7 after 23 overs.

But with Steve Ball’s knock of 57 and Arran Williams hitting 56, QCCC reached 238 for 7 from 40 overs

Col Watson XI made steady progress in reply with contributions from W. Kipling 31 and A. Perowne 34, but with wickets falling, they reached 141 all out in 32 overs, with T Down taking 4-12 with his spin bowling.

On completion of the game Ken Croom was pleased to present winning skipper Paul Worton the “The Eileen Croom Memorial Cup”

Queen Camel CC 238 for 7 in 40 overs. Steve Ball 57, Arran Williams 56 no. W. Kipling 3 -15, S.Holdsworth 2-41.

Queen Camel CC went up against Ilchester CC who started the day in second place.
(Sunday 11th August 2013)
On a bouncy artificial track, both Steve and Calum took early and then regular wickets to leave Ilchester at 40 for 6 after 16 overs. Small partnerships were built, but Rob, Lewie and Sam all chipped in to take the last 4 wickets with Rob claiming a sharp low catch at 1st slip to wrap up the innings.
Tom and Paul shared an opening stand of 38, with Matt, Sam, Steve, Harley and Lewis all reaching double figures to close in on the winning total of 108.

This win should see QCCC rise to 2nd place in the league and with 2 games to go we will be keen to remain there.

Friday 2nd August 2013  Queen Camel vs Mildmay XI

Picture
On Friday evening, Queen Camel CC played host to the Mildmay XI on the sports field.

With QCCC batting first, Lewis Rees hit a season best 38 before becoming the first of Boris’s 4 victims.
Boris had bowling figures of 4 -18 from his 3 overs, sending 2 batsmen’s back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.
QCCC then batted out the full 20 overs reaching 153 for 7.
In reply the Mildmay XI doggedly batted against an in form QCCC bowling attack.
Dobbo may feel rather unfortunate to have timed a lovely cover drive only to see Camel skipper Paul Worton make a stunning diving one handed catch to claim his wicket and to deny him a certain 4 runs.
With wickets falling and the long Mildmay tail wagging they reached 59 for 12 from their 20 overs.
With both sets of players and spectators thoroughly enjoying the game, it was only fitting then to retire to the Mildmay for a BBQ and few drinks afterwards.

Dumiso took a stunning catch in the covers, which will go down as one of the best of the season, and Callum again was on target, clean bowling all 3 of his victims.
