Schools in the Queen Camel Area

Queen Camel Pre-School (registered charity 1021953)

Introduction

We opened as a community Pre-School at Queen Camel Memorial Hall in April 1982 and provide a wide range of play activities, educational and fun toys, plenty of art and creative work, as well as music and story time.  In fine weather there is an outdoor play area.   We have adopted the Pre-School Learning Alliance Constitution and we receive the Early Years Education Grant for 3-year olds.  We have the relevant forms for free places for those on family credit and any request in this respect is held in the strictest confidence.

Our Aims

To provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment;
To enhance the development and education of children under statutory school age in a parent-involved, community based, group;
To ensure equal opportunities for all children and their families; and
To instil the values of caring and cooperation in all areas.

To achieve this we offer
  • A tailored curriculum leading to the six ‘Early Learning Goals’:
    • Personal, social and emotional development;
    • Communications, language and literacy;
    • Mathematical development;
    • Knowledge and understanding of the world;
    • Physical development; and
    • Creative development
  • A high ratio of one adult to six children.
  • Fun and friendship with other children and adults.
  • Opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities of the Pre-School

The Management Committee
Pre-School is owned and run by the Pre-School Management Committee, which is made up from the parents of children attending the Pre-School.  Therefore, we invite all new parents to join the committee if at all possible.  The more support the committee receives the better for the future of the Pre-School and ultimately for the children.

Introductory Visit
Children are eligible to start Pre-School when they are 2½ years old.  Towards the end of the half term before a child is due to start we arrange an introductory visit for the parent and child.

Sessions
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30 am to 12.30 pm with an optional lunch club of 12.30 pm to 1.00 pm.
Tuesday 12.15 pm to 3.15pm
Thursday 9.30 am to 12.30 pm

Further information can be obtained from the Pre-School Leaders:
